Why Not Talk About Lebron?
Everyone else is. Seems like as good a starting topic as any for Colorado Sports Retort. Sure, I can talk about the Rockies and how awesome walk-off come-from-behind wins against the Cardinals are. Or, I can talk about how much I hate Josh McDaniels (most likely will be referred to as “McHoodie”, “McDummy”, “McDouche” or simply “That Coach” from here on out). But no, lets start it up with Lebron. Why the f#$% not?
Why the hell does Lebron need an hour long TV special on ESPN tonight to announce his decision? It literally takes 15 seconds or less for him to say “I’m going to (fill in the blank) to continue my quest for Lebron, Inc. world domination. F#$% you Cleveland. You suck.” To promote Lebron, Inc. of course. Stan Van Gundy was absolutely right in ripping Lebron.
As much as I dislike Kobe and the Lakers, Kobe has kept his mouth shut (for the most part) and has continued to win championships. Jordan kept hitting the Detroit brick wall for the earlier part of his career but persevered and let the Bulls build around him. Jordan, Inc. didn’t make it huge until AFTER winning championships. Basketball comes first with both Kobe and Jordan, not Lebron. So until Lebron just focuses on basketball, does it really matter where he goes? Unless Team Lebron goes super-juiced-Celtics mode and puts together a dreamteam (Miami?), Lebron won’t win anyway because Lebron, Inc. won’t let him.
But ultimately, I don’t really care. I’m tired of hearing about it, and I’ll watch the special tonight just to see what the f#$% he could possibly have to say for an hour. Maybe we’ll just see Lebron-endorsed commercials for 60% of the time. And Lebron, Inc. shares rise…
Thought this would be a good topic to start of the Colorado Sports Retort blog and get it off my shoulders. F you Lebron. Go Rockies.
